The revitalization of Detroit depends on the willingness to invest deeply in Detroit. This requires the commitment of Detroit-blooded people who love the city and want to see better and better things keep happening there. It helps if these people also happen to make kick-ass pickles. Joe and Bob McClure, the brothers behind McClure’s Pickles, grew up in Michigan and, using their great-grandmother’s secret recipe, learned to make pickles in their mom and dad’s kitchen. From icing the cucumbers and making the brine themselves, the McClure brothers erupted into a full-blown pickle empire that uses local produce to manufacture in Detroit.
